Project Design

Project design for a wind turbine project is determined based on a variety of factors, including property boundaries, topography, wind regime, environmental features and potential turbine proximity to existing roads and transmission.  Often, exact turbine location, or micrositing, is not performed prior to verification of wind characteristics which are attained from on-site wind measurement activities.

Although micrositing for Adirondack Wind Energy Park has not been completed, a preliminary design was created for the purpose of developing a representative viewpoint analysis (see impact page).  Based on certain constraints, the number of potential turbines on the project site is limited to ten and the preliminary layout, as shown below, is based on many of the above factors.  The preliminary layout is indicative and will be amended as more detailed analysis is performed.
