Resolution 69.05

RE: Supporting Barton Mines wind power project

Councilman Frey offered the following resolution and moved its adoption:

 

WHEREAS, Barton Mines has proposed a wind power project of erecting ten (10) wind turbines on the north side of Gore Mountain, with each turbine capable of producing enough electricity to power more than eight hundred (800) households, without smog, acid rain and mercury pollution associated with coal and oil-fired plants, and

WHEREAS, the turbines would provide ample energy for consumers and would not be out of context with the existing the State operated and maintained Gondola, Chair Lift and extensive trail cutting and grooming activities at Gore Mountain Ski Center, and

WHEREAS, Current electric transmission lines and State owned radio towers currently exist next door, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

RESOLVED, that the Town of Inlet Town Board herby supports Barton Mine's proposal to erect the wind turbines on the north side of Gore Mountain.

Councilman Levi seconded and duly adopted by the following vote:

 AYES: Levi, Faro, Frey, Schmid, Risley                    NAYS: None
